Michael Keane established Michael Keane & Co., Solicitors in his home town of Claremorris in November 1974 having graduated from University College Dublin in 1972 and from the Law School of the Law Society of Ireland in 1973. He went on to acquire the practices of the late F.W. Conway, Solicitor of Claremorris and the late P.J. McIntyre, Solicitor of Kiltimagh. From the office on James Street, Claremorris, Michael Keane & Co. After completing her Law Degree in Trinity College Dublin in 2010, Michael’s daughter Alison Keane joined the practice as an Apprentice Solicitor in 2011 and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2013. Alison became Principal of the firm of Michael Keane & Co., Solicitors upon Michael Keane’s retirement in 2020.
Patrick McEllin Solicitor commenced practice in Claremorris in 1939 and was one of the most prominent and highly regarded lawyers in the West of Ireland. His son Ward McEllin continued to grow the practice until his retirement in late 2021 when the practice merged with Michael Keane & Co., Solicitors and now continues under the name Keane McEllin Solicitors. The firm operates from the original Keane office on James Street, Claremorris, County Mayo. Keane McEllin Solicitors continues to provide services to a substantial client base offering a wide range of legal services based on decades of experience, expertise and discretion.

Keane McEllin Solicitors has grown to be the largest firm in Claremorris and has an extensive private client base in Counties Mayo and Galway. The firm represents many local business and professional leaders as well as the local GAA, Rugby and Golf Clubs. Alison is a regular guest on local radio discussing legal issues relevant to the general public and is an active Board of Management member on various local organisations and schools. Alison is joined by Ciana Mulchrone, Solicitor, and an experienced team of Legal Executives, Legal Secretaries and a Legal Accounts Manager.
Alison completed her Law Degree in Trinity College Dublin in 2010. From there, she entered the Law Society of Ireland and qualified as a Solicitor in 2013. Having worked in Claremorris since her qualification, she has a keen interest in local businesses and activities. She specialises in Family Law, Civil and Probate Litigation, Estate Planning and Property Law.
Ciana completed her Degree in Civil Law in National University of Ireland Galway in 2007. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 having completed her Apprenticeship in a commercial law firm in Dublin. From there, she has worked in the Chief State’s Solicitor’s Office as a state property specialist before moving to Galway where she worked in general practice, focusing on Criminal Law, Litigation and Property transactions.
